How to make an appointment with a physiotherapy specialist in Toronto: If you’re planning to have a skin surgery or hip replacement, don’t forget to call your doctor first.
But what if you’re not sure how to go about finding one?
Here are a few tips.
Find a clinic in your area.
A good place to start is the local medical school.
They’re usually the first stop when you’re wondering how to get your hands on an appointment.
Get in touch with a local physiotherapists association.
You can find your local association at www.nswpaa.ca/meetings.
If you can’t find one, there are also some websites you can use.
www.ncpa.org/findahealthcareproviders for a list of Ontario medical associations.
If it’s not listed, it’s best to look up the organization in your province.
Make sure your health insurance plan covers physiotherapy.
Some health plans are already offering physiotherapy and it’s free to get in touch.
Some are even offering reimbursement for physiotherapy services.
Contact your local health department.
There’s usually a small network of physiotherapeutic clinics in your community.
Ask about the availability of physiotherapy programs and see if you can get a referral to one.
If that doesn’t work, you can always contact the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Physicians.
Look for a physiurist who is experienced and qualified.
There are plenty of professional physiotherappers who have expertise in orthopedics and sports medicine.
A lot of physiurists in Toronto are also registered with the Ontario Physiotherapy Council.
Look at the availability and quality of the physiotheraping facilities in your neighbourhood.
You might be able to find a physiouncer who works in the same area as you.
The Ontario Health Sciences Centre has a good website that will let you search for physiotheraps in your region.
If your nearest health centre is not listed here, there’s a good chance you’ll find one in another area of the city.
Ask the physiotherapy association for a referral.
If there aren’t any physiotherapplications nearby, you’ll have to go out and find one yourself.
If they’re open, it may be a good idea to call ahead to make sure they’re working.
If not, just say hi.
If the physiouncers are open, they may be able and willing to give you a referral and make sure you’re getting the right services.
Talk to a doctor.
If physiotherapy is not your first choice, try a specialist in another field.
If all else fails, talk to your local physiotherapy or orthopedic surgeon.
If neither is available, ask your doctor if you could get a specialist who can help you find one.
Go for an appointment at your doctor’s office.
If possible, you may be better off having a consultation with a physician at home.
The office will provide you with a list and some guidance to get you started.
Some doctors may even recommend that you go to an orthopedist’s office to make appointments.
Talk with your doctor about your insurance.
If none of the options above work, there may be an insurance plan that covers physiotherapy and orthopedism.
You should talk with your health plan about what your options are.
If a physioanalysts association is your first stop, they have an excellent website that can help with your research.
Call your local orthopedists office.
Another option is to call the local orthopaedic clinic.
They may also have an office near you that you can call to get a list.
Talk about your options with your orthopodist.
If both of these options don’t work or you’re still unsure, you might want to call a physiothoracic surgeon to find out more.
